MTV Uncensored began as a one-off special to promote the Video Music Awards. The two-hour documentary was a sensation, achieving record-setting ratings in it’s own right. The special spun off into a five-year hit series, co-developed and show-run by David Levin. Garnering four Emmy nominations, MTV Uncensored turned into one of the network's most successful franchises and spawned two CBS prime-time specials, a hard-cover coffee-table book and DVD releases including a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit special.
